Loss of conscious

  • complete
  • transient of short duration
  • sudden
  • followed by recuperation
  • loss of postural tone
  • no traumatic cause

All above criteria must be present for the diagnosis of syncope.

Inappropriate diagnosis of syncope

  • epilepsy
  • metabolic dsorder métaboliques (hypoglycemia, hyperventilation, hypocapnia)
  • intoxication
  • cerebrovascular accident
  • catalepsia
  • psychic disorder
  • drop attacks
