Prophylaxis

Decision to administer endocarditis prophylaxis depend on the underlying cardiopathy and on the body site treated.

  1. Cardiopathy requiring prophylaxis.
  2. Treated body site.

Cardiopathy requiring endocarditis prophylaxis.

  1. Mechanical or biological valve prosthesis.
  2. Valvular reconstruction with persistant regurgitation.
  3. Valvular reconstruction with implantation of material, without persistant regurgitation, during the first 6 months following the intervention.
  4. History of endocarditis.
  5. Congenital heart disease
    • non corrected congenital heart disease with caynosis included shunts and aorto-pulmonar conduits.
    • corrected with implantation of material for the first 6 months following the intervention.
    • incomplètement corrigée avec anomalies résiduelles au niveau du patch ou de la prothèse.
    • VSD, patent ductus arteriosus.
  6. Valvulopathy after heart transplantation.
